Windshield replacement

When the crack has won, we replace. Removal, frame prep, fitting, bonding — in that order, with cure times respected.

When replacement is the answer

Repair has limits. We move to replacement when:

  • the crack runs edge to edge, or is longer than roughly fifteen centimetres;
  • the damage sits in the driver's direct line of sight, where a resin mark would become a nuisance of its own;
  • the impact touches the perimeter, where the glass is bonded to the body and does structural work;
  • there are several impacts close together, or the glass has started to delaminate — that milky look between the two layers.

What the installation includes

  1. Removal

    Wipers and trim come off, then the old urethane bead is cut out.

  2. Frame preparation

    The opening is cleaned thoroughly and primed. A badly prepped frame is a water leak six months later.

  3. Fitting the glass

    Fresh urethane bead, the windshield set in place, then trim and wipers back on.

  4. Curing

    Urethane has to set before the windshield does its structural job again. We tell you the wait before we leave.

The detail we don't skip

A windshield is not just a window. It stiffens the roof in a rollover and it acts as the backstop for the passenger airbag, which deploys against it. That is why frame preparation and bond quality matter more than the brand etched in the corner of the glass — and why we will not let you drive off before the urethane has set.

The right glass for your vehicle

A modern windshield is never plain glass: rain sensor, heating elements, tint band, mirror mount, camera cutout. Give us the year, make and model and we will confirm the part that matches your vehicle and its options.

Worth knowing

  • Glass matched to your vehicle's size and options
  • Fresh urethane bead, primed frame
  • Cure time respected and explained
  • Insurance claim handled
  • Available as mobile service

Frequently asked

What people ask us most

How long before I can drive?

It depends on the bonding product and the temperature that day. The technician gives you the exact wait before leaving. Avoid pressure washing and highway speeds for the first few hours.

What glass do you use?

Laminated glass matched to your vehicle's dimensions and options. Give us the year, make and model and we confirm the correct part before the appointment.

Can I drive with a cracked windshield in the meantime?

In Québec, a windshield that obstructs the driver's field of view can be found non-compliant at inspection. Beyond the rule, a long crack weakens a part that contributes to the vehicle's structure. Get it looked at.

Do the wipers need replacing too?

Not always, but worn blades scratch new glass. We will tell you if yours are at the end of their life.

Can you do it at my place?

Yes, replacement is available as mobile service, provided there is accessible parking and some shelter. In rain or hard cold we reschedule, or you come to the Laval shop.
